Tufted Textile Art Exhibition at The Brick Lane Gallery
Picture this: January 2020, London's vibrant Brick Lane, and me showcasing my tufted creations at The Brick Lane Gallery! It was an incredible experience diving into themes of identity and transformation through my textile masks – because let's face it, we all wear different masks depending on the day.
Exhibiting internationally taught me valuable lessons about the realities of long-distance gallery collaborations. Being based in Copenhagen while my work hung in London meant relying entirely on the gallery team – and that distance made it challenging to create the buzz and connections I'd hoped for. It was my first time paying for exhibition space, and while it was a learning experience, I realized how much I value being present to meet visitors and share the stories behind my work. These days, I focus on exhibitions closer to home where I can be hands-on and connect directly with people who appreciate handcrafted textile art.
Opening Night: Meeting Fellow Artists and Friends
These photos are from the opening night, and what an evening it was! Being there in person to experience the energy and meet all the other exhibiting artists was truly special. The gallery was packed with people exploring the artworks, and the atmosphere was buzzing with creativity and conversation.
I was lucky to have friends living in London who came by to support me and enjoy the evening together. Having them there made the experience even more memorable – we could share the excitement, discuss the different artworks on display, and celebrate this milestone together. There's something wonderful about combining the professional achievement of exhibiting your work with the personal joy of having loved ones by your side.
The opening night reminded me of why these in-person connections matter so much in the art world. Meeting fellow artists, chatting with visitors about the tufted textile technique, and seeing people's reactions to the masks in real-time – those moments are irreplaceable.
